irrespective of this point, we beg to enquire whether there

is any objection to these two vessels fulfilling this 260

charter between the Standard Oil Company of New York and

kesare. Arnhold, Karberg and Company, and which we believe

was negotiated in their respective New York offices.

In view of the above we have in wind the provisions

of paragraph 6 of the Proclamation of 9th ultimo relating

to Trading with the Enemy, in accordance with which it would

seer to us that Messrs. Arnhold, Kerberg and Company in the

East would be entitled to use these vessels for the voyage

from the East to the United States, but as owners of the

vessels we would be glad to have your ruling on the above

at your earliest convenience.

Yours &c.,

The Tank Storage and Carriage Company,Limited.
